Hello everyone,
I’m reaching out for some help with my newly acquired 2006 Acura TSX, manual transmission, which unfortunately cranks but refuses to start. I’ve been going through a list of potential issues, and here’s a summary of the key symptoms I’m observing:
- The dashboard displays a “check emissions” warning light as soon as the car is turned on.
- I am unable to establish communication with the ECU via the OBDII port using two different, functional OBD2 scanners. This is making diagnostics very difficult, and I am wondering if a Cheap Obd Scanner For 06 Tsx would even be helpful in this situation.
- Occasionally, a VSA error message also appears on the dash.
- There’s an unusual intermittent buzzing sound originating from under the dash, around the relay area, but it doesn’t seem to be coming directly from the relays themselves.
- The fuel pump has recently been replaced, according to the seller, but it seems fuel is still not being delivered to the injectors.
My initial step was to inspect the ECU for any signs of corrosion. I removed it and examined it thoroughly, both inside and out, but found no corrosion whatsoever. After reconnecting the ECU, I proceeded to check all fuses and relays that I thought could be related to the problem, such as the main relay and LAF sensor relay. All of these appeared to be in good condition. I also checked all accessible connections that I could locate, but again, found nothing obviously wrong. I considered a possible immobilizer issue, but the green key indicator light on the dash turns off immediately after turning the ignition on and does not blink, which I believe rules out immobilizer problems.
Today, after work, I plan to investigate the buzzing noise near the driver’s footwell fuse box more closely, as this is currently the most tangible lead I have. As mentioned, the inability to communicate with the ECU using two known-good OBDII scanners is a major roadblock, preventing me from even pulling error codes to guide the troubleshooting process. Perhaps investing in a cheap OBD scanner for 06 TSX, specifically tested for compatibility, could be a next step if the buzzing issue doesn’t reveal the problem. I do have a recording of the buzzing noise if anyone thinks it would be helpful to hear it. I will update this post with any findings from my investigation later today.
I’m really hoping someone might have some insights or ideas. I’m not very familiar with Acuras and have spent considerable time searching forums for similar cases, but most seem to revolve around immobilizer or ECU swap issues, which don’t seem to apply in my situation. Any suggestions or guidance would be greatly appreciated!
