Smartfren Andromax devices are known for their affordable internet packages using CDMA networks. However, while these phones support dual GSM and CDMA, internet connectivity is typically restricted to the CDMA network, leaving the GSM for calls and SMS only. For users needing GSM data for MMS or simply preferring GSM internet, this limitation can be inconvenient. Fortunately, there’s a method to activate GSM internet on your Smartfren Andromax C using a simple tool. This guide will walk you through enabling GSM internet on your Andromax C device.
Step 1: Download and Install Any Cut
- Begin by downloading the Any Cut application. You can usually find this on app stores or trusted APK download sites.
- Install the Any Cut application on your Smartfren Andromax C smartphone.
- Once installed, locate the Any Cut widget in your widget menu.
- Press and drag the Any Cut widget onto your phone’s home screen.
- A configuration screen will appear, as shown below.
- Select Activity from the options.
- In the Activity menu, find and choose APN. Ensure you select the lower APN option if you see two listed.
- If a confirmation prompt appears, simply click OK.
Step 2: Create Registration Selection Shortcut
- Again, locate the Any Cut widget in your widgets.
- Drag and drop the Any Cut widget to your home screen.
- The Activity configuration screen will reappear.
- Select Activity once more.
- This time, in the Activity menu, find and select Registration selection.
- If prompted, click OK to continue.
Step 3: Activate GSM Internet Connection
- After completing steps 1 and 2, you should now have two new shortcuts on your Smartfren Andromax C home screen.
- Tap on the Registration selection widget (the one with the phone icon). This will open the registration menu.
- Uncheck the box next to RUIM and press OK.
- Your CDMA network signal will likely disappear, which is normal as you are disabling it to enable GSM internet.
- Now, enable your mobile data. Your GSM internet connection should activate. Note that the connection speed might be limited to EDGE and may not reach HSDPA speeds.
- Open your Android browser to test the GSM internet connection.
To revert to the original settings and reactivate your CDMA connection, simply check the box next to RUIM in the Registration selection menu and click OK.
